Check whether the job numbers support the ad spend
Our planning starting point is about $3,000 a month in Google Search ad spend, plus the management fee. At an assumed $20–$40 per click, that buys about 75–150 clicks. Clicks are not inquiries or booked jobs.
Use a local forecast before committing. This is a starting recommendation for a focused test, not a Google minimum or an electrician benchmark.
Illustrative monthly model — not a forecast or quote
Change the example to see the trade-off. “Suitable” means work you take, in your area. Gross profit is what remains after direct job costs, before marketing and other business costs.
All starting inputs are assumptions, including the $500 management fee. Replace it with your quote. Rates are not electrician averages. No answers are sent or saved.
Modeled monthly marketing cost $3,500
4 jobs × $1,000 gross profit − $3,500 marketing = $500 before other business costs. This is not final profit.
Method: clicks = ad spend ÷ click cost; inquiries = clicks × inquiry rate; completed jobs = inquiries × completed-job rate. Marketing cost = ad spend + management fee. Other setup, website, software and staff costs are excluded; add them to your own decision. Project completions may fall in later months.
Start with one job type your team can handle
Google Search ads reach people who are already searching. Choose a service, a workable area and a clear reply route before spreading the budget.
Repairs and fault finding
Send the searcher to a repair page with real coverage and hours. Make sure someone can answer the call and explain availability.
Panels and EV chargers
Use a matching project page and assessment request. Explain what the electrician needs to check before quoting. Keep planned projects separate from urgent repair calls.
Commercial requests
Use service-specific language and an appropriate contact route. If the work is mostly invitation-only bidding, relationships and tender access may matter more than broad Search ads.
A smaller budget? Narrow the service and area only if the local forecast still gives a useful test. Otherwise, fix your website and local details first, build referrals, or compare Facebook and Instagram ads for planned projects. A $10-a-day entry ad budget is not automatically a useful Google Search budget.
Know what is in your management plan
Bring Google Search ads, a useful website and follow-up together with 9xLocal. Our agency replacement packages start from $297/month, plus ad spend. Agree the Search work and responsibilities before launch.
| Work to agree | What it means for an electrical business | Your part |
|---|---|---|
| Where the ads run | Choose real services, search terms and areas you can serve. Exclude irrelevant searches where appropriate. | Confirm jobs, coverage and capacity. |
| Ads and destination pages | Match the words in the ad to the service and the next step on the page. | Approve accurate claims, offers and job photos. |
| Budget and checks | Set spending controls and review where the money goes. | Approve the ad budget and management fee. |
| Measurement and changes | Define counted results, review suitable inquiries and make justified changes. | Mark wrong-area, wrong-service, missed-call and completed-job outcomes. |
Landing-page work, phone tracking and other tools should be listed in the quote. Do not assume they are included in a management fee.
Your management fee and Google spend are separate
For the management work and any agreed extras.
9xLocal does not mark up the ad spend.
9xLocal is your agency replacement for turning Google Ads inquiries into booked jobs, with packages starting from $297/month. Connect ad management, your website and follow-up in one plan. Your quote sets out the included work and actual fee; Google ad spend is separate.
Show what happened after the click
Example review route, not client performance data
- A click reaches the right page
The search and page match the service. A repair search should not land on an unrelated generator offer.
- The inquiry reaches the office
Test calls and forms. A clicked phone button or thank-you screen does not prove the office spoke with the person.
- Your team marks the quality
Record the job, area, whether you reached the person and why the request was unsuitable if it was.
- The estimate becomes work—or does not
Record the quote and outcome. Review completed jobs separately from forms, calls and appointments.
The action an ad platform counts as a result is called a conversion. Agree what that means in the report. A form conversion and a completed electrical job are different things.
Keep the spending decisions visible
- How much was spent, and on which job types and areas?
- Which searches brought useful inquiries, and which brought irrelevant requests?
- Were calls answered and forms received?
- How many suitable inquiries reached an estimate or completed job?
- What changed in the campaign, and why?
Agree access and reporting in writing. Review poor inquiries by cause before increasing spend. No service can promise to eliminate every invalid click, and a cheaper inquiry can still cost more per completed job.
Agree which Google ad product is being managed
This page focuses on Google Search ads. Local Services Ads are a separate product with their own eligibility and charging rules. Performance Max is a different campaign type again.
Ask for each product to be named in your scope. Do not assume Local Services Ads or Performance Max is included because a quote says “Google Ads.” For setup detail, use the electrician Google Ads guide.
Check an existing account before starting over
If you already advertise, review the account, past spending, counted results and destination pages first. Agree access through the proper account permissions. Useful history should inform the next plan.
For a new account, agree the budget and work, test the destination and inquiry route, then review early searches and office feedback. Confirm who controls the account, what you can access and what happens when management ends.
Before you choose your team
What if the first inquiries are unsuitable?
Separate wrong-service searches, out-of-area requests, spam, missed calls and people asking about real work who did not buy. Each needs a different response. Review the evidence with the manager before adding budget.
What if I cannot afford a $3,000 test?
Use the local forecast to judge a smaller, narrower test. If it would buy too little useful traffic, choose another first step. Improve local information, follow up existing estimates or compare project ads on Facebook and Instagram.
Can I use my existing website?
Yes, an existing page may be suitable if it matches the ad, loads properly and gives the customer a working next step. Agree any changes or new-page cost before launch.
Can you promise a certain number of jobs?
No. The budget buys ad exposure and clicks, not guaranteed work. Local demand, click prices, the offer, your response and the customer’s decision all affect what happens. The calculator is a planning model, not a forecast.
